FURBOWL (SWEDEN)

A Växjö based Death Goth Metal band formed in 1991 as DEVOURMENT (Released no demos with covers) by ex-CARNAGE man Johan Axelsson and former JESUS EXERCISE and DEVOURMENT drummer Max Thornell. With the first demo being released, it was described as “experimental gothic industrial metal”. Furbowl  immediately got to work and made 5-6 songs. 3 of those ended up on a demo, “The nightfall of your heart”. After this we were contacted Step One Records (Jörgen Sigfridsson) (aka S:t Sigfrid) who wanted to release an album with freshly hot and steamy recorded stuff. Mike Amott joined up as co-producer and after a few days we could happily drive back home with a very, very heavy piece of recording: “Those shredded dreams”. The disc was out and we got a pretty superb response. A bunch of shows later we recorded some kind of demo (no covers) in a "hyper modern" 16-track studio in Staffanstorp that was intended to be released as an official demo. This never happened though. Max and I (the furry dictators) were never pleased with the result. It didn’t sound like Furbowl anymore. This lead to changes in the line-up as well. The guys had to go and we decided to go back to be a 2-piece band again, to kinda “cool things down”. With this constellation a new demo was recorded (no covers), tours and shows all over Sweden, Germany and also in Belgium until we signed a new deal with Black Mark Productions. Furbowl later turned into Wonderflow, with new vocalist and bassist. Johan would join Amott in their new band Arch Enemy.

THE NIGHTFALL OF YOUR HEART 1991 DEMO

Our official demo. It had a true printed cover (I printed it myself at work during a lunch-break), however no lyrics. Some were COLORED pro print covers. As for the cassette itself we had just plain white ones without printed text. - Johan
