ABHOTH (SWEDEN)

ABHOTH, hailing from Västerås, date back to 1988 when they went under the guise of MORBID SALVATION ARMY. The original line-up included vocalist Jörgen Bröms, guitarists Staffan Johansson and Jörgen Kristensen, bass player Kristian Fabretto and drummer Carl-Åke Johansson. That same year a new rhythm section was drafted in the form of Fredrik Gustavsson on bass and Jonas Ståhlhammer on the drums. ABHOTH would also lose the services of Johansson, the guitarist later turning up in UTUMNO. Following issue of an opening demo 'A Matter Of Splatter' bass player Dag Nesbö would be pulled in during 1989. A second demo, 'Forever To Be Vanished There In', was delivered in 1991. Ståhlhammer, going on to join GOD MACABRE, JEHOVAH SUNRISE and in 1993 UTUMNO, would be superseded by Mats Blückert the following year. Bröms departed in 1990 to join AFFLICTED. Nesbö too would depart to journey on to COERCION. ABHOTH issued the single 'The Tide' during 1992 for the French label Corpse Grinder Records. It is worth noting that ABHOTH guitarist Jörgen Kristensen and drummer Mats Blyckert have also sessioned for SUFFER in their time. Kristensen also cites credits with BMC SPLEEN and, in 2002, DEAD AWAKEN. Following the single release, Dag, Anfinn and Anders departed. ABHOTH demoed again, 'Dormant Reality', arriving in 1994. Further changes saw the introduction of Magnus Wall on bass in 1996. Under the revised title of CHIMERA a demo 'Recovery From Life' surfaced in 1999. Klovegård teamed with THRONEAEON / GODHATE that same year with Wall joining his former comrade in 2002. Wall also held membership of SEPTIC BREED. The family ties continued into 2003 as Ramberg supplanted Wall in GODHATE. Wall joined MAUSOLEUM to record their demo September 2003 'Fluctuating Senses' and also enrolled into Power Metal band HATERUSH, figuring on the 2004 opus 'Mark Of The Warrior'. Members Jorgen, Mats, and Fredrik, are now in a band called Dead Awaken.
